Foot Surgery

The foot is a complex structure, it comprises a total of 26 bones connected by 107 ligaments as well as by the tendons of around 20 small muscles. Above the foot, the tibia and fibula articulate at the ankle, also formed by the talus. This bone rests on the calcaneus, which is the heel of the foot. At the front, there are the bones of the tarsus and metatarsus, then the phalanges which form the toes … They are composed of three phalanges, with the exception of the big toe which has only two.

Regarding deformities, when the big toe is not parallel to the others, and it is deviated outwards, we speak of hallux valgus also called bunion, a frequent pathology of the toes. Because of this anomaly, a swelling appears at the base of the big toe, at the level of the deviation. It sometimes causes very significant pain. And it becomes difficult to find comfortable shoes.
